Mrs. Ali Sparks Middle School Language Arts Teacher Mrs. Ali Sparks was born in Lebanon, Kentucky. She has been teaching for two years at St. Joseph School. Education: Graduated from Marion County High School. Graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing. Graduated from Bellarmine University with a Masters in Education. I am certified to teach Language Arts and Science. I am the St. Isadore House Mentor; Middle School levels coordinator; Athletic Board member. Family Information: I grew up on a farm in Lebanon, Kentucky and my first job was working in a tobacco patch with my three sisters. I have been married to David for 11 years. I have three daughters: Josie (9), Madie (8), and Torie (4). Awards: In high school, I won the Spirit Award in Junior Miss as a senior in high school. Interests/hobbies: I have coached 4th grade girls basketball this year and have coached volleyball for St. Joe for the past four years. I love watching my girls play sports. Josie and Madie play soccer, basketball and golf. Torie attends gymnastics. There is nothing more fun than watching your children play and have fun. Favorite sport/activity: My favorite sport is volleyball, although I enjoy watching the NFL. Favorite animal: Cow Favorite color: Black and gold--Go Steelers! Favorite childhood memory: Playing two-on-two volleyball with my sisters in our family backyard. Favorite trip/vacation: This past summer, my family and I visited Disney World. My favorite ride was "Soarin." Josie, Madie and Torie loved "Splash Mountain." Facts about you: I love to travel. I have been all over the United States and to England, Holland, Germany, Switzerland, France, Mexico, Canada, and Japan. I traveled out west when I graduated from college and visited many National Parks. My favorite vacation was Yosemite. In addition, I skydived to celebrate the grand occasion. (7S, my homeroom, made me bring a picture as proof!) What you like most about teaching: I love working with students and helping them to prepare for high school and college. I also enjoy the process of watching them improve their writing and expressing themselves through their writing. Positive influence: My father, Ted Higdon, has been the strongest influence on me.
