Mrs. Beth Walker

Administrative Assistant

Mrs. Walker was born in Cleveland, Ohio and grew up in Lakewood, Ohio. Family information: I have been married to R.J. for 22 years. We have three daughters, Annie 14 (born in Columbus, OH), Caroline 12 (born in Concord, MA), and Becky 7 (born in Charlotte, NC) all attending St. Joe. We have lived in Bardstown for 4 years and love it here. Education: I graduated from Lakewood High School. I have a B.A. degree from Bowling Green State University (Ohio) in Psychology and Philosophy and have also taken classes at O.S.U. in math and economics (I love economics!). Work experience: Before I became a full-time mom, I worked for ten years for Kelly Services. I recruited employees, placed them in jobs, worked in outside sales and marketing and managed a branch office. In the past few years, I have worked as a teacher assistant in SJS preschool and as a substitute teacher here and for Nelson County. I have enjoyed my experiences with the students very much. Interests/hobbies: Most of my time is spent nurturing my children's interests. When I have time, I like to take walks, sew, cook, and sing in the car. Lately I have been doing more reading. Favorite sport: I really enjoy swimming - I used to be a synchronized swimmer. I love to watch my girls play soccer and ride horses, especially in horse shows. Favorite animals: Cats for their quirky personalities and dogs for their love that knows no boundaries. Favorite color: Green Favorite TV show: I like American Idol, Burn Notice, and The Weather Channel. Favorite trip: A few years ago, we took a family trip to Bald Head Island, NC. It is a small, quiet island with beautiful beaches and walking trails. We played in the sand, swam with dolphins, and enjoyed a real get away. All of us love the ocean and want to go back someday. What you like to do on a snow day: I like to watch the girls play in the snow, make soup, and enjoy a leisurely day together. Favorite childhood memory: I loved growing up near Lake Erie. I would take every opportunity I could to see it, be near it, or swim in it. Mom, my sister, Wendy, and I would ride our bikes in the summer to the local park where we would swim, picnic, and enjoy the day. In the winter, I loved to visit the lake when it was frozen - it was so awe inspiring and beautiful. I also enjoyed the amazing storms that would come off the lake - they reminded me of the power of God and nature. Positive influence: My family - R.J. for encouraging me to try new things and not worry, and my girls because they make me laugh - all the time - and constantly make me aware of what is truly important. Favorite quote: "Call to Me and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things that you do not know." Jeremiah 33:3
