Mrs. Kara Lewis

Middle School Language Arts Teacher

Mrs. Kara Lewis was born in Lebanon, Kentucky. She has been teaching for 6 years, two at St. Joseph School. Education: She has an Associates Degree from St. Catharine College, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Campbellsville University and a Master of Arts in Education and a Rank 1, focusing on Language Arts from Eastern Kentucky University. She has a Kentucky Teaching Certificate in 5-12 Business and Marketing Education and 5-9 Language Arts. She was nominated for Ashland Teacher of the Year in 2006. Family: Married to Terry Lewis for over 12 years, one wonderful son, Benjamin Andrew, 5 years old and attends St. Joe. Interests/hobbies: Love crafts, painting and cross stitch. Favorite sport: Watch NASCAR Favorite animal: I have one cat, Kovu (1 year old) and two dogs, Ruby and Ringo Favorite color: Green Favorite TV show: How It's Made, Mythbusters, Army Wives What you like to do on a snow day: Spend the day with my son, watching cartoons, playing cars, cleaning house, eating spaghetti, and just being with Ben. Favorite childhood memory: When my mother brought home an Apple computer from school one summer to learn how to use it. I thought it was the best thing in the world and played Jeopardy all summer long! Facts about you: I have a ton of pet peeves, mostly about grammar! What you like best about teaching: Getting to influence the next generation of leaders, helping to shape them into responsible, civic minded, community minded adults. Favorite quote: "A pint of example is worth a barrelful of advice." Derived from Philippians 3:17-"Be imitators of me, my brothers. Take as your guide those who follow the example we set."
