STUDENT ACTIVITIES:

St. Joseph School's extra-curricular programs spark enthusiasm and are a natural extension to classroom learning.

CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS:

  • Academic Teams Future Problem Solving teams
  • Math Counts 4-H Clubs for grades 4-8
  • Geography Bee Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts
  • Chess Club Girl Scouts and Brownies
  • Drama Club Children's Choir
  • Student Council Youth Choir
  • Safety Patrol Yearbook Committee

ATHLETIC PROGRAMS:

  • Basketball teams for boys and girls in grades 4-8
  • Volleyball teams for girls in grades 6-8
  • Intramural bowling teams for boys and girls in grades 4-8
  • Bethlehem Prep football team for boys in grades 7& 8
  • Swim team for students in grades 4-8

STUDENT ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

  • The 4th and 5th grade Academic Team placed second overall and second in Future Problem Solving advancing to regions
  • The 6th grade Academic Team won Reserve Champion at the Kentucky Colonel's Sixth Grade Showcase and earned the Katherine Hume Sportsmanship Award
  • The Elementary Academic Team finished in second place in Quick Recall and placed second overall.
  • The Middle School Academic Team received the Katherine Hume Sportsmanship Award and ranked third at regional Governor's Cup competition.
  • The 7th and 8th Future Problem Solving team won first place in district and regional Governor's Cup competition to compete at state
  • Two 8th graders took first place in the 2008 Engineering Division in the Louisville Region Science Fair and second place in the Kentucky Science and Engineering Fair in the Team Category
  • Students advanced in written tests in district and regional Governors Cup competition
  • SJS student advanced to the final round in the Nelson County Spelling Bee
  • Student competed at state level in the National Geographic Bee
  • Five students awarded high school academic scholarships for the 2008-2009 school year
  • The MATHCOUNTS Team was awarded silver level status and advanced to state competition
  • One student was a county winner in Young Authors competition
  • 4-H students won competitions in every category and were highlighted at the Kentucky State Fair
  • Chess Club members were winners at an invitational chess tournament
  • Numerous awards and trophies for athletic achievements
  • Student won Honorable Mention in Kentucky Department of Transportation Poster Art Contest - a statewide competition
  • Student writing published in newspaper and poetry anthologies
  • Student was 2008 Miss Teen Nelson County
  • Student gymnast earned third place in a regional competition performing on bars, beam, vault and floor exercises
  • Student qualified in Kentucky State Class A Championship swim meet in 50 yard freestyle, 50 yard breaststroke, and 100 yard breaststroke
  • Student archery champion finished fifth at nationals
  • Students perform in Stephen Foster Musical and Mid-Winter Feaste productions.
  • Music students in piano and violin participated in many music festivals
