Mrs. Edwinnia McClain Preschool Teacher- Three-Year Olds Mrs. Winnia McClain was born in Louisville and moved to Loretto with her family when she was thirteen. She has been teaching for sixteen years. Teaching: I taught at Nazareth Montessori for six years, then at Little Angels Primary House for one year , where I started their Montessori program. I have been teaching at St. Joseph School for nine years. "It has been the perfect fit for me," explains Miss. Winnia, as her students call her. Education: I attended St. Paul Catholic School as a child. I graduated from Marion County High School, graduated from Vogue Modeling School, and received my Montessori Teaching certificate through the University of Kentucky and Montessori Educators International. I have been in the process of completing my Associates Degree in Interdisciplinary Early Childhood education from St. Catherine College in Springfield, KY. I am trained in C.P.R. and First Aid and have numerous continuing education credit hours. Family Information: I am the third child of four. We are a very close knit family and very supportive of one another. I am recently married to my husband, Wes McClain. I have a 17 year old son at Bethlehem High School. He attended Nazareth Montessori Children's Center and then St. Joseph School for first through 8th grade. I have a 4 year old stepson, Matt, who attends preschool in Frankfort. Interests/hobbies: My hobbies include reading, going to movies, writing poetry and I have a passion for going to yard sales. Favorite sport/activity: My favorite activity is walking and hiking in Bernheim Forest. I enjoy watching football with my son and playing cards and games with my family. Facts about you: I thank God everyday for the beautiful and wonderful world he gave us. What you like best about teaching: Seeing the expression on the faces of children when they have made a new discovery. Someone who was a positive influence: My parents were most influential because they taught me to love people for who they are, to be compassionate, respectful, understanding, and patient.
