Mrs. Ali Sparks was born in Lebanon, KY. She graduated from Marion County High School and earned a Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing from Eastern Kentucky University. Mrs. Sparks received a Masters in Education from Bellarmine University and is certified to teach Language Arts and Science. At St. Joseph she is the mentor for St. Isadore House; Middle School levels coordinator; and an Athletic Board member.
Her first job was working in a tobacco patch with her three sisters. She and her husband David have three daughters: Josie, Madie, and Torie. In high school, she won the Spirit Award in Junior Miss as a senior in high school. Mrs. Sparks has coached basketball and volleyball for St. Joe. She enjoys watching her girls play sports. Her favorite sport is volleyball, although she enjoy watching the NFL. Mrs. Sparks’ favorite childhood memory is of playing two-on-two volleyball with her sisters in the family backyard. Her favorite vacation was a trip to Disney World and her favorite ride was “Soarin.” Josie, Madie and Torie loved “Splash Mountain”.
Mrs. Sparks loves to travel and has visited points in the United States, England, Holland, Germany, Switzerland, France, Mexico, Canada, and Japan. She traveled out west after graduating from college and visited many National Parks. Her favorite was Yosemite. In addition, she skydived to celebrate the grand occasion. (7S, her homeroom, made her bring a picture as proof!) She loves working with students and helping them to prepare for high school and college. She also enjoys the process of watching them improve their writing and expressing themselves through their writing. She credits her father, Ted Higdon, as having been the strongest influence on her. “He has an incredible work ethic and has always pushed me to strive for all my goals,” she said.
