Where are you from/where were you born? I was born in Jefferson County, Kentucky and grew up in Washington County. I lived there until I graduated from Washington County High School then moved to Nelson County.
Describe your family: I am married to my best friend, we’ve been together 30 years. We have a daughter, Emily Janelle (Preschool Teacher for Nelson County Early Learning Center) and a son, Connor (sales). Our daughter and son-in-law have given us 2 wonderful grandsons. Kamden is 5 years old and Korbin is 3.
Education: I started my college experience at St. Catherine College. I started with my CDA and decided that I wanted to go farther. I started working on my IECE degree at St. Catherine but they didn’t have all the classes I needed to finish. I switched to Campbellsville University and graduated from there with my Bachelor of Science in Education with an emphasis on Early Childhood (IECE). I am in the process of continuing my education at CU and working toward my Master’s degree (Leadership with an emphasis on Early Childhood).
Work Experience: I worked for Nelson County Board of Education for 14 full time years and 4 part-time years. I have worked as an instructional assistant for 2nd grade, preschool and a co-teacher for preschool.
Interests/Hobbies: I love to spend time with my family, travel and read.
Favorite sport/team: Kentucky Wildcats and Cincinnati Reds
Favorite Trip: Australia with a layover in Hawaii (This was a trip that I took with my daughter when she was chosen to represent Kentucky in cheerleading for Down Under Sports.)
What you like to do on a snow day: Relax, read and catch up on bookwork and housework
Favorite childhood memory: I have so many wonderful childhood memories, but I believe my favorite are the trips that my parents took us on as children.
Positive influence: My daddy influenced me to finish college. He always wanted to know how things were going and if there was anything that he could do to help me. I lost my dad in June of 2013 as I was completing my student teaching.
Favorite thing about teaching: Seeing a child learn a new skill. I love when they get that look in their eyes and they know they can complete a task by themselves that they have never done before.
Favorite Quote: It takes a big heart to shape little minds.
A child’s life is like a piece of paper in which every person leaves a
