Mrs. Patricia Koenig Hagan

Special Education/Learning Consultant

Mrs. Pat Hagan was born on the Great Lakes Naval Base, Waukegan, Illinois. She grew up in Frankfort, Kentucky. She has been teaching for 25 years, 11 at St. Joseph School. Education: School grades 1-11 at Good Shepherd in Frankfort. Graduated from Franklin County High after Good Shepherd closed. I received degrees from the University of Kentucky and the University of Louisville. B.A. in Education K-8 and Special Education PK-12 from U.K.; M.Ed. Special Education U. of L.; Rank 1 Plychometry (testing) U of L. Credentials: Provisional Catechist. Family Information: Married 30 years to Fred Hagan from New Haven. I am one of six children and Fred is one of eight. Together we have 30 nieces and nephews, and 14 greats. Interests/hobbies: I like to refinish furniture, read, and go hiking. Favorite sport: Watching college basketball. Favorite TV show: NCIS Job History: Least favorite job was selling clothing and accessories in a small department store at age 16. Loved working as Human Resources Administrator for Space Center Houston, the Visitor Center for the Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. What you like to do on a snow day: Fix a cup of hot chocolate, curl up under an afghan, and read. Favorite trip: Seven wonderful days touring Rome, Italy, 2005. Facts about you: I have done a little woodcarving and used to write poetry. Favorite childhood memory: Coming home from Christmas morning Mass and waiting until Mom and Dad took off the sheets covering all the presents from Santa so we could all pile into the living room. What you like best about teaching: Motivating students to develop their strengths for the future adults they will be. Someone who was a positive influence and why: I was privileged to hear Mother Teresa speak at Bellarmine. Her message stressed that charity wasn't the amount of money or hand-me-downs you gave away, but a question of what you "do." She repeated, "But what do you do?" Since then Fred and I have always been physically involved in our Church and Community. Favorite quote: Make a difference!
